The penny pinching, clearance shopping – bargain hunting Washington Redskins have formally announced the re-signing of defensive end Kedric Golston.
Free Agency kicked off at 4 p.m. Tuesday and the cash-strapped Redskins have been searching high and low for ways to create some form of cap space to make a move. With the $18 million cap penalty, it’s been hard for Washington to make moves. The team’s biggest move was releasing CB DeAngelo Hall, who was set to make $8 million in 2013. However, Washington has tried their hardest to keep the core of 2012′s NFC East division championship team together with the re-signings and restructures of their in-house players. In a media presser on Monday, Shanahan warned that the team could “take their bumps” because of the cap penalty and one bump could have happened last night. Special Team’s ace and Mr. Everything Lorenzo Alexander will have a “new” team in 2013, his agent announced. The team, however, has not been selected as of yet. Alexander is deciding between the Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers .
The Washington Redskins did re-sign punter Sav Rocca on Tuesday, however the team has not officially announced that as of Wednesday morning.
