Vick Injures Hand, Eagles Fall to 1-2

A week after leaving the game with Atlanta Falcons with a concussion, Michael Vick returned to the field to lead the Philadelphia Eagles against the division rival New York Giants and once again had to leave the game, this time with a contusion to his hand.  Without their Pro Bowl quarterback, the Eagles fell to the Giants 29-16.

At this point, it’s uncertain how long Vick will be out, but he’ll have a CT scan performed on Monday.  The injury was to his right hand, which is his non-throwing hand.  After the game, Vick said, “”I don’t know anything right now except my hand is broken.”

“I felt I got hit late. No flag,” Vick said.  “At some point something catastrophic is going to happen.  Not to blame the refs, but more precautions should be taken. I’m on the ground all the time in the pocket.”

Vick voiced his frustration with the referees, “I mean, you all see it. There’s no reason for me to go into a big dissertation about why I’m not getting the calls.  The refs, they have to do their job as well. I even mentioned it in training camp to the refs when we had our little meeting, so just for precaution. But hey, I don’t know.”

Before leaving the game, Vick went 16 of 23 for 176 yards, with 1 INT.  In relief, backup quarterback Mike Kafka was 4 of 7 for 35 yards and 2 INTs.

The “Dream Team” have now had to finish two games without Vick and have fallen to 1-2, losing both games where Vick couldn’t finish.

Meanwhile, Eli Manning threw for 254 yards and 4 TDs in the win.  Manning said, “We felt coming in that we could beat these guys because we should have last year. We knew we had to win the fourth quarter. This year, unlike last year, we won the last eight minutes of the game. It was a big win for us.”

Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz made the most of 3 receptions, going for 110 yards and two TDs, including a 74-yard touchdown.

The Giants improved their record to 2-1 and a chance to tie Washington for first place in the division, pending the outcome of Monday night’s game between the Cowboys and Redskins.
