Seattle, WA- Sunday was the start to the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Special Olympics. There were a lot of people in attendants cheering on the athletes that will be competing in the games. The theme for the ceremony was unity. “Unity is something special, great, and inspiring. All of America can see this displayed in these athletes. It takes strength and what they are doing in life, as well as competing is inspiring,” said Gary Payton.
Many stars were in the building, such as Mark Henry, Stephanie McMahon, Gary Payton, and many more. “To be out here celebrating these wonderful people is amazing. They have inspired so many people and it is such a great cause. I know they have worked hard to come out here and compete,” said Stephanie McMahon.
Many athletes have come from different states to show the world that they too are ready to be noticed and that they are regular people that love sports. This marks the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Special Olympics and it was pretty special. There were concerts, inspiring messages, and just people rooting for their states.
The week will start with different events and it is free to the public.
