There is more than one team in Texas. The Houston Texans are making more than a record breaking statement this season and the crowd is going wild.
Texans cheerleader and exclusive pro player insider, Morgan Dean, was able to experience this Houston excitement first hand. “The crowd was going wild. Texans stadium was as loud as ever,” she said. “The sack that Connor Brawin made, as a safety, was key in getting the Texans pumped.” This was Brawin’s first sack of the season for a safety.
Still amped on the win, Dean’s further explained, “Also, Johnathon Joseph’s interception of Joe Flacco was returned for a touchdown. Antonio Smith had two sacks, one after another, but would really give the MVP award to the whole defense.”The reason for all this excitement? The Texans have not beat the Ravens for some time and this particular time it was record breaking. Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs was back in action but only was able to shake QB Matt Schaub a couple times.
Texans set a record for points (past franchise record of 42 points, from a 2007 win vs. Jaguars) in front of a record crowd of 71,708 people.
Here’s the breakdown: the Texans outgained the Ravens 420-176 yards, had a 27-12 advantage in first downs and Schaub finished 23-of-37 for 256 yards with two TDs. Arian Foster continued his elite season, and looks to reestablish himself as one of the best running back in the AFC. Foster hit 98 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns. Andre Johnson snagged nine catches for 86 yards, while Owen Daniels had 59 yards receiving with a TD.
The matchup looked to be a tight battle going on, as the Ravens and Texans were the only two AFC teams with a 5-1 record. Sunday’s game makes gives the Texans a two game advantage over the Ravens (5-2) in the battle for the number one slot and home field advantage in the AFC.
“We need to stay focused on winning game No. 7, and they will let us do that here in a couple week,” said Dean.
Dean reports that “Coach Gary Kubiak acknowledges the team effort and is saying taking one game at a time. 1-0 each week. One focus. But the ultimate focus is to win as many games as possible to get the home field advantage and the bi for playoffs.”
Although next week is a bye week for the Texans, the veteran cheerleader Dean knows she will be seeing a “sea of red” buzzing around the city of Houston in the following two weeks.
