The Tennessee Titans dominated the Carolina Panthers 30-3 as the Titans improved to 5-4 while the Panthers dropped to 2-7.
Chris Johnson started slowly, but picked up speed throughout the game and finished with 130 yards and 1 TD on 27 carries. Matt Hasselbeck passed for 219 yards and 1 TD, and 1 INT. Tennessee took a 17-0 lead into halftime and never looked back.
Cam Newton passed for 212 yards and ran for another 55 while averaging 7.9 yards per carry. He led all Panthers rushers, but the effort wasn’t nearly enough. Newton needs significantly more talent around him to turn the Panthers into winners.
The one silver lining in Carolina is that they get to play the Colts in two weeks, but first they face the Detroit Lions next week, which will face a tough challenge for Newton as he faces Ndamukong Suh and the Lions pass rush.
Tennessee stays alive in the playoff hunt, although they are 2 games behind the Houston Texans in the AFC South.
