T-Rich, as some refer to Browns’ rookie running back Trent Richardson, has been continuously compared to some of the top running backs in the league. Being cared to Adrian Peterson before even suiting up is a lot of pressure, but Richardson doesn’t sound too worried or nervous about stepping into a star role this season. Pro Player Insiders recently caught up with Richardson at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere.
Formerly representing the Crimson Tide, Richardson talked briefly about what he learned from the Cleveland Brown’s rookie Mini Camp. “Mini Camp was really good. The Brown’s playbook is very similar to the one at Alabama. All you really need to learn and catch on to is the terminology.”
Richardson also understands that training and playing hard, as he did in college, will need to transition over to a successful NFL career. With this understanding, Richardson plans to push himself in offseason workouts and into camp. He clearly expresses that “I need to bring more intensity to my game and I need to use that intensity to challenge other people on my own team.”
T-Rich enjoyed his time in Los Angeles at the 2012 NFLPA Rookie Premiere, but like the other top rookies in attendance he is ready to start his career. “It’s a tremendous experience and all the guys here are just hungry to get out there and start playing.” This Alabama alumnus is ready to take a starring role in the Brown’s running back squad currently composed of Brandon Jackson, Montario Hardesty and Chris Ogbonnaya.
Outside of football, Richardson’s favorite past time is simply being with his family and being a dad. He can also be found playing other sports and perfecting his game. From fatherhood to football, Richardson aims to stay humble in everything he does. His refreshing combination of humility off the field and hard-nosed intensity on the field should make him an instant fan favorite, and inject some excitement into the Browns’ offense this season.
