East Rutherford, NJ – In the final tune up before the kickoff of the regular season the Giants (1-2) will be taking on the team they defeated last to win their fourth Super Bowl: The New England Patriots (1-2).
While the final game of preseason is generally used to round out the roster before the game begin to count, it’s safe to assume that there is a little more emotional investment in this game with the Patriots wanted some modicum of revenge for their loss in February, no matter how small.
Both teams are battling injuries to start the season and had just played a game on Friday. The Giants will not be starting seven players, Justin Tuck, Prince Amukamara, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Jason Pierre-Paul as some of the notables. The Patriots (surprise, surprise) have not released the names of players not starting. After the hard hits Tom Brady took on Friday against Tampa Bay and the nature of the Giants defensive line, it would be surprising to see him out there today.
The Giants will be hosting the Cowboys in one week as Metlife Stadium hosts NFL Kickoff while the Pats open their season in Tennessee.
