Sergio Brown’s Super Bowl Experience

Patriots second-year safety Sergio Brown went into the Super Bowl eyes wide open, excited to make his first Super Bowl in only his second year in the league.  While the Patriots came out on the losing end, the experience will give him something to build on as he hopes to get back for another shot at a ring.

Brown has some very specific pregame rituals.  For instance, he is one of the players who does have a specific pre-game playlist that he listens to before kickoff.  “I put on the game day playlist with a whole bunch of Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and really good hype to get amped and go out there and play,” Brown said.

As to his pre-game meal, it’s a little bit unusual, too.  He explained, “Nothing really special, just some chocolate to give me a little bit of energy.”

ProPlayerInsiders caught up with Brown before the Big Game, capturing the following interview.

PPI:  Being only your second year and playing in the Super Bowl already, what is this experience going to be like for you?

SB (Sergio Brown):  It has been a great experience and I hope for it to get even better. Second year, first Super Bowl, I can’t ask for more.

PPI:  The guys who have been here before, New England has got kind of a history of making some deep runs and already have a couple rings back in Foxborough. Are they giving you any tips on what to expect this week and what you should do to prepare?

SB:  Everyone has really been trying to hold off their speeches until it (Super Bowl) gets closer. You don’t want to get distracted, but I’m sure I’m going to hear a lot of pointers maybe today and with some days to go.

PPI:  You guys were here on Sunday, have you been able to get out in the city and check out Indy at all?

SB:  We went out a little bit and had dinner as a team a couple of nights, and enjoyed it. (We) looked at all of the Super Bowl stuff and really been soaking it all in.

PPI:  How has the city been treating the players and the fans so far this week?

SB:  Wonderful, wonderful, its Super Bowl weekend and they are treating us like its Super Bowl weekend.

PPI:  Outside of the game, what kind of things do you enjoy doing when you’re not on the football field?

SB:  When I’m not on the football field, watching TV, sleeping, listening to music, hanging out with my friends, all of the regular stuff.

PPI:  In terms of music is there anything specific that you listen to before the games to get ready or any rituals you lean on before game time?

SB:  Yeah, I put on the game day playlist with a whole bunch of Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and really good hype to get amped and go out there and play.

PPI:  How about food? Do you have any selections that you eat before the game?

SB:  Nothing really special, just some chocolate to give me a little bit of energy.
