The second annual CharitaBulls ParTee hosted at Top Golf West Houston on Monday, May 2nd was a huge success. The team raised nearly $40,000 at this year’s event, which knocked it out of the park by doubling last years’ earnings.
Every bay on the lower level at Top Golf West Houston was filled with celebrities, sponsors, goodie bags, food, and good time memories. If you have never been to a Top Golf, it is a playground for all ages. It’s an interactive driving range, with varying levels of competitiveness from the beginner to the pro. The golf balls are micro-chipped to track each player’s accuracy and distance of their shots on the outfield. Which if you watched Wade Smith, former Houston Texans offensive tackle, you might have seen his golf ball knock out of the park once or twice! Food is a weakness to all, so they didn’t come up short when Red Dive Desserts presented each bay with a golf ball, cake ball display on a putting green. Jon Weeks, Houston Texans long snapper, joked, “that having real golf balls on the ‘putting green’ alongside the delicious golf ball cake balls could be a bad mistake if someone got too hungry.”
There was an overwhelming amount of support of 300 attendees, with 30 celebrity golfers including current Texans, Host Whitney Mercilus, Brian
Cushing, Brian Peters, Christian Covington, Jadeveon Clowney, Jeff Allen, John Simon, Jon Weeks, Jonathan Grimes, Nick Novak, and Xavier Su’a Filo. Major Sponsors were BMW West and Top Golf West. The First Place Team, “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” Award went to Pepper Lawson Construction with celebrity golfer, former pro golfer, Maggie Noel. When you have a charity function, no one goes home empty handed, so the last place award presented by Red Dive Desserts Houston was celebrity golfer Drew Doughtery. When it’s all about giving back, having some pep in your step always makes the event more entertaining; dancing around the bay’s were Most Spirited, Jon Weeks, Brian Peters, and Morgan Dean presented by BMW West. Strutting in with dapper style through the wild photo booth winning the Award for Best Dressed was Infinity Hydrocarbon.
This year’s proceeds will benefit Smartie Pants Academy from the direction of Charitabulls and Houston Texans, outside linebacker, Whitney Mercilus. Smartie Pants Academy believes every child, regardless of disability or needs, deserves a quality education. Their mission is to provide a safe learning environment for children with special needs and their siblings.Whitney says, “I chose this particular charity because I have a passion for helping children with special needs and have worked with them before. They are a great organization and the kids had the time of their life!” CharitaBulls is nonprofit organizations that is all about giving back to the community and sharing resources.
