Richardson Ready to Be Mr. Everything

The Cleveland Browns newly acquired running back, Trent Richardson from the University of Alabama, has been compared to and called the next Adrian Peterson, arguable the best back in the league.

When the Browns entered the 2012 NFL draft they were looking for an explosive playmaker on offense and they got that when they selected Richardson with the third pick in the first round. The Browns are hoping that Richardson can fulfill the promise of being the next Peterson, both on and off the field.

Cleveland Browns Running Back Trent Richardson

ProPlayerInsiders.com interviewed Richardson after the draft and asked him what his biggest strengths are as a running back.  “Everything,” Richardson replied.  “I can run, block, catch, and pretty good vision… so everything.”

Running backs have been viewed as a more disposable commodity in recent years, and Richardson is trying to chain that perception.  “Hopefully I can change everybody’s mind mind about running backs because they devalue us a lot so hopefully, I can make a big change for us.”

Richardson knows a lot about big changes and making big moves. He broke the Alabama single-season rushing record by racking up an impressive 1,679 yards and 21 TDs.  He also played big in the 2011 National Championship game vs. LSU by rushing for close to 100 yards and scored the game’s only touchdown late in the 4th quarter.

Richardson is believed to be a sure thing – an impact player, a workhorse who can run with power, break tackles and with a great vision for the field.  Only time will tell if Richardson can delivery on his pre-draft promise, but with all the positives he brings to the game, it is hard to imagine him not changing the Browns offense next season.  Cleveland may have gotten the best non-quarterback in the Draft, and look for him to provide a new face for a franchise that has struggled for years.

Trent i believe will have a tough rookie season, playing on a team where the talent on both sides of the ball are not quite good enough yet. Also, they do not have a proven qb or proven wrs two things rookie rbs need to make the defense cautious of both the pass and run. Richardson, will be lucky to make it to 800 yards rushing this year.
