Redskins Read Book Fair this Saturday

On Saturday, May 14, 2016 the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation “Redskins Read” will team up with Barnes & Noble and Everybody Wins! D.C for a citywide book fair in the nation’s capital. Sports fans and book lovers will have an opportunity to meet Redskins’ players, cheerleaders, and authors as they read selections.

Activities will take place at Barnes & Noble locations around the city. Not all locations will have celebrity guest readers, and each Barnes & Noble has its own time set for the book fair. Be sure to check the location nearest you.

  • Redskins Cheerleaders are scheduled to read at the Potomac Yardand Redskins safety David Bruton Jr. is scheduled to read at the Tyson’s Corner location.

A portion of sales for the entire day will benefit youth literacy programs in the community through Everybody Wins! D.C.

Fans attending the event are encouraged to bring the Redskins Read Flyer or mention the book fair at checkout and a percent of sales at all Barnes & Noble locations will aid the Redskins Back to School Fair this fall. Donated books from the authors will also be donated to Everybody Wins! D.C. students.

You never know who else may show up at the various locations. Be sure to come out and support the youth of the D.C metropolitan area.

The Bethesda location is having two readings by the authors of the books. From 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. award winning author Mary Amato will read and sign copies of her funny series Good Crooks! Amato will be followed by award winning author and illustrator Susan Stockdale, who will read and sign copies of her book Spectacular Spots from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. She will also show how she created the illustrations.

Debbie Levy will read and sign copies of the story of a song titled We Shall Overcome at the Rockville location from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. At Tysons Corner you can catch author Sarak Ardestani reading and signing copies of her book The Roly Poly Pumpkin from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Clarendon will host award winning author Katy Kelly who will read Lucy Rose from the Lucy Rose series from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Don’t forget to salute Lieutenant Commander Shameen Anthanio-Williams of the US Coast Guard after the reading of Little Erroll, the biography of Admiral Erroll Brown, which will be at the Gaithersburg location from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
