Ready, Set, Play MUSIC

Playoff season is HERE and the players are ready to hit the field to earn that 2013 Super Bowl XLVII title. The playoffs are not just important to the players, teams, and franchises but it’s also important to the dedicated fans that travel to home and away games, Fantasy football lovers and we can’t forget the fans who watch from home in their sweet game winning spot.

There are rituals on both sides of the field that gets everyone game ready. For players some go into a deep meditation to clear their thoughts, others get their body relaxed through massage therapy or get a costume tape up to protect their injuries. As for the fans , their game day preparation includes a trip to the local grocery store for the abundance of food that is eaten while tail gating or a house party, a couple madden games as their team and of course checking out their fantasy football roster, but the one thing that both sides do on and off the field to prepare them for and during the game is the blasting of music.

MUSIC (Myoozik) is a noun that means “The art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds(or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony and expression of emotion.” This art form motivates everyone, it can drive a play, get the crowd involve, or it can be a song that just gets the teams pumped up.

Jonas Jennings who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2001 as a 3rd round pick who ended his career with San Francisco as an offensive tackle would listen to music and think about making game day plays, he says “I live these moments through music and I keep my music on until its game time”"Jonas Jennings"

Over the years you hear the same game mood music at the stadiums like

“Eye of the Tiger” By Survivor

“Hey Hey , Goodbye” By Steam

“This is how we do it” By Montell Jorden

“We are the champions” By Queen

“Let’s get it started” By Black Eye Pea’s

“We will rock you” By Queen & “Welcome to the Jungle” By Guns N Roses

But since music changes so much here’s a few thoughts on songs that would get this current generation game day amped

“Otis” By Jay Z and Kanye West

“Feel it in the Air” By Beenie Segal

“We are the Champions” By the Diplomats ft Roca Fella

“We taking over” By Dj Khaled

“I’m The Boss” By Rick Ross

“Clique” By Kanye West, Big Sean, Jay Z

“Riot” By 2Chainz

Even though actual songs get us hype and dance during the games, team chants also play a role in the music aspect of the NFL. Team chants have the same effect and it gets everyone involved and it brings so much life to the stadium whether it’s a negative or positive chant you’re grabbing someone’s attention. Words are very powerful, especially if you’re trying to convert and get your team that W over the other team.

Here are some chants you may hear at a NFL game

Tampa Bay- one side of the stadium yells “TAMPA” and the other side yells back “BAY”

Pittsburgh Steelers- “Here we go Steelers, here we go”

Jets- “J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets”

Green Bay Packers-“Go pack GO”

Buffalo Bills-“Let’s go Buffalo , Let’s GO” The Bills also remade “Shout” and it is the stadiums theme song

Music is said to be the universal language of mankind, so without music to decorate, time is just a bunch of boring productions. In the words of Confucius “Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without” and since spectators and players are human music has been an ideal ingredient for NFL success and pleasure.
