Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has earned Offensive Rookie of the Month honors while leading the Bengals to a 5-2 start, despite losing not only last year’s quarterback in Carson Palmer, but also both wide receivers – Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco.
Dalton has been averaging 211 yards per game, along with 9 TDs and 7 INTs so far this season, but he has improved slightly through the month of October, throwing six of his TDs in the last four games.
The Bengals defense has certainly helped him out, but Dalton has been managing the offense very effectively.
And most importantly for any quarterback, they’ve been winning, which gives him the big nod over fellow rookie QB Cam Newton. The Bengals are sitting just half a game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Central, while Newton’s Carolina Panthers are 2-6.
