The 49ers signed longtime Browns K Phil Dawson today. It's a move that should finally vault the veteran from the fantasy fringes to strong-starter status. David Akers dominated fantasy kickers in 2011 with San Francisco. Last year, he led the leage in FG attempts and finished among fantasy's top 10 despite missing an absurd 13 kicks. Dawson has connected on 84% of FGs in his 14-year career. Far more impressive, though, has been his recent work from long range. Dawson nailed 14 of 15 kicks from 50+ yards over the past 2 seasons.
