Tom Curran of CNNE.com reports that the New England Patriots have cut wide receiver Deion Branch and elevated Greg Salas to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
Salas was a 4th-round pick of the St. Louis Rams who the Patriots traded for back in September. However, Salas was not yet ready to run in the Patriots’ offense and was cut and brought back to the Practice Squad. Deion Branch who was cut before the season began was then re-signed.
Now with a few months underneath him he appears ready to contribute to the team. Branch is on the outs again, at least for the time being.
Branch was questionable with a hamstring for this Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. He will be available on the waiver wire on Monday for any team to claim him. It would not be surprising if the Patriots bring Branch back again at some point this season or next if no team claims him.
