Packers Randall Cobb Making an Impact

VIDEO – Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Randall Cobb joined a team coming off a Super Bowl victory and loaded with offensive firepower.  Finding a way to contribute right off the bat is difficult, but Cobb opened eyes around the league beginning in Week One, and the Packers continue to look for ways to get the ball in his hands.

The Packers are currently the league’s last unbeaten team and have improved on last year’s Super Bowl winning team by getting key players back that were out with injuries on their Super Bowl run and adding key talent, such as Cobb, who was their second round draft choice.

In the Packers’ season opener against the Saints, Cobb returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown.  Now six games into the season (and six Packers’ victories later) he has the second highest average in the league on kickoff returns, 32.5 yards per return.  That’s a big field position advantage for the Packers high-powered offense.

He has also returned 10 punts, has 9 receptions for 174 yards and a TD, and this week, they gave him the ball on an end around in the second quarter, so he had his first rushing yards of the year.

Going into the season, he was asked what he looked forward to most, and his answer was simple: “Just playing, definitely being up in Green Bay, and maybe doing a couple of Lambeau Leaps.”

With 1 touchdown on offense and 1 on a kickoff return, he was able to get those leaps in early, and continues to look for ways to contribute.

His focus is to “just continue to do what I’ve been doing that got me here.  Working hard and being dedicated and accountable.”

That is exactly the kind of attitude that the Packers appreciate.  The team is led by hard working players like Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings on offense, and Clay Matthews and Charles Woodson on the defense.

The Packers are the last unbeaten team in the league, and seem to be getting better every week.  As Cobb finds new ways to get involved, they are only going to get that much better.
