With his historical rookie year in the books, Andy Dalton now has to grow as a leader and field general for the young and hungry Cincinnati Bengals. This past week, Ron Jaworski the QB guru from ESPN, made a list of the top 30 quarterbacks in the league today based on intangibles, leadership, anticipation, smarts and potential. The good news for the Bengals is that Dalton was ranked No. 19 according to “Jaws”.
Dalton was ranked higher than Mark Sanchez, Sam Bradford, Matt Ryan, Carson Palmer, and Ryan Fitzpatrick on the list. Jaws said, “The more I evaluated Dalton, the more I liked him. He does have some arm strength limitations, but he compensated very well with his anticipation and his accuracy.”
Last season Andy showed his poise and patient playing style by throwing fifteen touchdowns in the red zone without throwing a single. Ron credited Daltonagain by saying, “Dalton was an outstanding anticipation passer…What must supplement anticipation is pinpoint ball location.”
The future looks bright for the post “Carson-Chad Era” of the Cincinnati Bengals. Some think that Andy and teammate A.J. Green will face a sophomore slump after having an outstanding rookie campaign. But the way this offseason has gone for this young Bengals team, everything seems to be falling into place.
The “Who Dey Nation” can hope for positive things going into the 2012 NFL football season.
