Mrs. Britney Johnson is the proud mother of Miyah (4 years old), “Mani Boy”(3yrs old), and Mia Bella (4weeks). Britney is the wife of Stevie Johnson, a stand out father, business man, musician, sports personality and wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills. The pair are a perfect match because Britney is likewise as talented, and she is an amazing, articulate mother. Britney and Stevie both agree that the constant love, support, and understanding of their own mothers has built the foundation of their success.
Here are 6 questions Pro Player Insiders asked Mrs. Britney Johnson to honor her, her mother, and her mother in law on Mother’s Day:
Pro Player Insiders: What does being a mother mean to you?
Britney Johnson: Being a Mother to me means being a Nurturer, Protector, Leader, and Teacher. Although those times when I don’t know what to do, I wish my children came with an instruction manual. To thoroughly explain my role as a Mother is to nurture my kids, expressing unconditional love to them and comforting them. Protecting them from things that can harm them, while teaching them the way of life as they grow up. Preparing them the best way I can for when they will one day be on their own. As a Mother, I have to be their role model and leader. I want to be the best Mom I can be and set great examples for my kids to follow.
One word to describe my eldest daughter is: Entertainer! She loves to put on fashion shows and will have a new dance routine for every day of the week! For my middle child “Mani Boy,” a word that would describe him would be: Athletic! I know it’s a bit cliche that he is athletic, being that his father is a professional ball player; however, he has been demanding a football and basketball since the beginning of his walking days. Let me just say, if the NBA could recruit a 3 year old, he would definitely be a great candidate. As for little Miss Mia Bella, she is only 4 weeks old so it may be to early to determine her personality. I would just say the word that best describe her would be Beautiful. Maybe, ask this question next year and I’m sure I’ll have plenty of words to describe Miss “Mia Bella.”
PPI: What has been one of your fondest memories that made you realize the amazing gift of motherhood?
BJ: The fondest memory I’d say, that has made me realize the blessings of motherhood, is when I look back at old pictures/videos of when our kids were born and seeing them now. Just seeing the growth. Waking up everyday to my beautiful kids and each day the slightest things change. We always seem to learn something new. All the hugs and kisses I receive from them now and knowing one day those hugs and kiss will turn into “Mom, stop you’re embarrassing me.” I’ve learned to embrace it all, after all I believe the true blessing is seeing them grow. They grow so fast so I have to get all the snuggle time in now!
PPI: How has your own mother influenced your life and how you raise your children?
BJ: My mother has always been loving, caring, and understanding. What I love most about my Mom is that she always encouraged me. As we’ve all experienced growing up and never really knowing what you want to do in life. My mom did a wonderful job guiding me through that stage of my life by not crippling me and doing everything for me. Instead, she taught me how to do things on my own. By my Mom doing that, it influenced my Motherhood by making me realize that you cannot do everything for your kids. Although, you want to hold their hand each step of the way. I feel giving them the tools needed to prepare them for life the best way you can is the best way. Then, trust that everything you’ve instilled into them, they will put to use. I feel that was a very valuable lesson that my mom taught me and I will use with my little ones as they get older. Thanks Mom! I love you.
PPI: What will you be doing with your husband and family on Mother’s Day? Does your family have any traditional ways they celebrate Mother’s Day?
BJ: My husband and kids scheduled a nice dinner for my mother-in-law and I. We may go to the movies to watch “Chimpanzee.” However, as for now it’s a family dinner for Mother’s Day.
PPI: Even though your husband plays a masculine sport, how do you think his mother has influenced his success?
BJ: My husband’s mother was very influential in his success entirely, by motivating him in school and in sports growing up. Steve says “She showed me love and support all the time.” I think that as a young man growing up in a rough neighborhood, such as my husband’s, you need someone around that will keep you on the right path. I believe my husband’s mother did an amazing job keeping him on track not only for his success in his career as a NFL player, but also for raising him to be the awesome man, husband, and father he is today.
