Vikings All Pro running back Adrian Peterson has torn both his MCL and his ACL, an MRI performed today has confirmed. The rehabilitation from tearing both ligaments will run at least to the beginning of next season, and he may not be ready to return to the field until after opening day.
Peterson suffered the injury in Saturday’s victory over the Washington Redskins when he was hit be DeJon Gomes.
Peterson won’t undergo surgery to repair the ACL until the MCL heals first, which is part of the reason for the extremely long recovery time from this type of injury.
