Monica and the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders are Celebrating Their 20th Anniversary Calendar

This is a year of milestones for the Miami Dolphins. Not only is the team celebrating its 50th season in the NFL, but the Dolphins Cheerleaders are also celebrating its 20th-anniversary calendar.

The official celebration will be held during their 2016 Swimsuit Calendar Unveiling and Fashion Show on September 18 at 8:30 p.m. at Sun Life Stadium.

To build the anticipation for the event, every Tuesday and Thursday in August, the Dolphins are unveiling a new month on the calendar.

Monica has been on the Dolphins cheerleading squad for three years. In this year’s calendar, she is Miss February and the cover girl on the calendar.

Pro Player Insiders spoke to the Kendall, Fla native about the 20th anniversary calendar, the fashion show and how well the Dolphins will perform on the field this year.

What does it mean to you to be part of the Dolphins 20th anniversary calendar?

Monica: Being part of the 20th year anniversary this year is actually very exciting for me. I’ve been in the calendar show already twice and this year since we are celebrating, it is even more exciting. I’m ready to have a good time with my friends and walking the runway and showing our beautiful calendar.

How will this year’s celebration be different from the previous two times you’ve done it?

Monica: I do feel, every year it gets better and better. The bikinis get nicer and nicer, our location gets better and I can’t wait to show you all what we are going to do.

For people that have never been to the swimsuit unveiling and fashion show, what can they expect?

rsz_btpllu9ciaaffl_Monica: They can expect to see the Dolphins cheerleaders for the last 20 years, the girls who made the calendar will also be there. People will also see the new bikinis we will be releasing. You will be seeing dances with the latest songs out, it will be a lot to show and should be a great night.

What was it like to do the photo shoot in St. Thomas and Nassau? I’m sure that had to be pretty cool.

Monica: This year, it was actually a blast to shoot. We went on a Norwegian Getaway (on the Norwegian Cruise Line) and I got to shoot in St. Thomas, which was beautiful. Some of the girls shot on the cruise ship, some shot in St. Maarten and Nassau, Bahamas. There’s such a variety of photos that it will make a really nice calendar this year.

You’ve been with the Dolphins for three years now, what initially make you want to cheer for the Miami Dolphins?

Monica: I decided to come back for a third year because I had so much fun the first two years and I felt like I wasn’t ready to give this up. This is an experience of a lifetime and it has been my dream since I was six years old and my dream finally came true.

How has being a cheerleader for the Dolphins changed you?

Monica: Being a Miami Dolphins cheerleader changes you in so many ways. You learn how to respect more by the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you act. You just become a better person and you do so many things in the community and it feels so good to give back to the community.

How well do you think the Dolphins will do this year?

Monica: I hope we make it to the Super Bowl, but I have great feeling about this year. We have some great players coming back and it will be a great season.
