University of Miami Linebacker, Jordan Futch is one of the one-hundred carefully selected NFL prospects who were invited to participate in the inaugural NFLPA Astroturf Collegiate Bowl game. Pro Player Insiders got the opportunity to chat with the athlete about his journey to the bowl game and future goals.
Futch recalls that his decision to accept the NFLPA’s invitation was a no-brainer:
“I was ecstatic when I saw that I was invited to the Astroturf Bowl by the NFLPA. I think that speaks for itself, the Player’s Association helps all of the NFL guys. [This bowl] is sort –of in tandem with the NFL. I knew that [this] would be a greater opportunity than going to The Battle of Florida [Bowl Game]. I am not saying that those bowl games aren’t good, but the [Astroturf Bowl] provides a bit of opportunity for some of the smaller guys to actually get a look.”
Futch is an exceptional athlete, but does not tout his accomplishments. Instead he gives all of his honor and glory to God. “My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, [is my inspiration]. I am a true man of faith and I couldn’t be here without Him. With Him and my family combined, that’s what continues to push me and drive me to move forward to the next level”, he says.
Futch, who recorded career-high of 20 tackles during his Senior year, expressed his desire to learn as much as possible from the week-long experience in Los Angeles. “[I expect to gain] knowledge, experience, [the opportunity] to go against some great competition from guys from all over, [and to receive] my opportunity to show the scouts and the NFL what I can do in order to get drafted. [I am here] to show my abilities and to show my talents.”
Jordan Futch believes that his passion for the game of football is a huge characteristic that sets him apart from other NFL Prospects:
“My heart [is what sets me apart from other prospects]. I think everybody has a heart for the game, but I love this game and am willing to do whatever for it. I am willing to go the extra mile to get it and achieve it! If I had to play Center, I’ve never played Center in my life, but I’ll go play it. I’m willing to do whatever it takes; I’m willing to go to the wall for any coach that’s offering me a job.
