Texans Matt Leinart Has Broken Collarbone
Texans QB Matt Leinart suffered a broken collarbone in Sunday's win over the Jaguars. It'll knock him out for the rest of the season. Rookie QB T.J. Yates came on and completed 8 of 15 balls for 70 yards against Jacksonville. He has some talent but Houston also has QB Kellen Clemens on the roster and may bring in more competition this week. Regardless, the Texans will remain extremely run-heavy the rest of the way.
It's a tough blow for the Texans, who still have an 8-3 record and a 2-game lead in the AFC South. They were poised to be competitive with Baltimore, New England and Pittsburgh in the AFC but after losing starter Matt Schaub and backup Matt Leinart in back-to-back games, they will have a hard time putting in a serious run in the playoffs in spite of their excellent defense and running game.
