An MRI on Bears RB Matt Forte’s injured knee confirmed a Grade 2 MCL sprain with no ACL damage. It’s relatively good news, but Forte still isn’t a lock to return for the regular season. MCL sprains are 2-6 week injuries. If you can afford the roster spot, we’d hang on to Forte at least until we get some updates on his rehab progress. But if you’re hurting at RB, he’s certainly droppable if there’s help available on the waiver wire. RB Marion Barber will take over as Chicago’s lead back while Forte is out. He’s a good bet for 15+ touches per game — plus goal line work. But the Bears’ struggling offense and a tough schedule leaves him as a low-end RB2. Kahlil Bell will step in as the change-of-pace back but isn’t likely to see more than 6-8 touches per game.
