The Niners signed veteran S Madieu Williams to a 1-year deal on Monday, ostensibly grabbing a new starter at FS. The signing is made more interesting because the team apparently has yet to stop negotiating with free-agent Dashon Goldson. Goldson started at FS in San Fran the past 2 years but battled myriad injuries in 2010. His production suffered. Perhaps Williams is insurance in case the team won’t meet Goldson’s demands. We’ll see how things work out.
