How many times do you lose your patience? The average person can lose their patience several times a day. As a Christian, it’s important to keep our cool as much as possible. That doesn’t mean you will never lose your patience, but it is a great way to keep yourself in check.
Stop and Think
When we stop and think, we actually get more accomplished. Rushing to get something done will eventually take longer anyways, so why not just take your time doing it? When you feel yourself losing your patience, just sit back and think for a moment.
Read Scripture
Losing our patience with each other can really bring out the worst in us human beings. A great lesson on patience is to sit down and read a few scriptures. Write out a few scriptures and keep them close to you. This will help you whenever you think you are going to lose your patience.
Repercussions
It’s a fact that when we are rushed, frustrated, or are not getting anywhere we react in ways that we wouldn’t normally. Remember that there are harsh repercussions for losing our patience. Hopefully the people in our lives will help by being forgiving and understanding. However, we should realize that keeping our cool to begin with can help avoid a lot of future repercussions.
Whether you are a teacher, parent, pastor, stay at home mom, working dad or whatever role you play, just remember that the things we say and do leaves a big impact on those around us.
Running low on patience? Keep these scriptures in mind:
Romans 15:5
Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus;
Psalm 37:7-9
Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret, it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers will be cut off, But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary.
