Mark Sanchez in a recent interview with GQ magazine mentioned that he “he wanted to fight Ryan for taking away first team reps last year during the season after a poor outing.”
They both said it’s all good now, but as usual, Ryan had to throw in a little jab saying he could take Sanchez in a fight. Ryan said in a team meeting, as reported in the NY Daily News, that “My key to victory was the ground and pound. That’s my style.”
It was all in good fun.
Sanchez also took ribbing from his teammates about his GQ cover shoot. Wide receiver Derrick Mason asked him about his “bubble bath” after pictures of Sanchez showed him soaking in a tub.
The bubble bath is somehow a little reminiscent of another great Jets quarterback. Joe Namath famously posed in pantyhose for a TV commercial for Beauty Mist, as shown below.

Coach Rex Ryan is excited to have Aaron Maybin in camp. The third year linebacker was waived by the Buffalo Bills and picked up off waivers on Tuesday. According to the NY Daily News, Ryan thinks “he has some pass rush ability and can help the defense.”
Plaxico Burress went 100% in practice Wednesday and should see time against the Bengals on Sunday night.
Running back Joe McKnight suffered a concussion and is day to day.
