New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan says that the Jets are the “big brother to their counterpart Giants.”
Ryan feels the Jets have taken over the city with their success the last two years. The Jets made it to the AFC Championship game two years in a row and the Giants failed to make the playoffs last year.
“I believe we are the best team in New York,” Ryan went on to add in the NY Daily News, in his typical soft-spoken style. “I’m not backing down from that statement.”
Giants defensive end Justin Tuck had his own ideas about this topic. Tuck said, “I feel like this new stadium is like the old stadium, and will always be Giants Stadium to me.”
Ryan, never at a loss for words, responded that Tuck “can think that all he wants, but it’s called Met Life Stadium.” And he went on to add that it was the “home of the Jets!”
Although it’s just a preseason match up, the battle for New York City is on. Incidentally, the two teams meet on Christmas Eve for real, in the next chapter in this growing rivalry. Should be fun!
Jets Tidbits…
Former Giant Plaxico Burress is looking forward to facing his old team while wearing the Jets green on Monday. Burress tweaked his back earlier this week at practice, but is fit to play Monday night against the Giants.
Jets cancelled practice at their old facility on Thursday due to weather. The Jets former facility was Hofstra University. Every year they go back for one practice to give their Long Island fans an up close look at the team. Last year, over 10,000 fans showed up. The Jets plan to put their annual practice back on the schedule for next year.
