Following the news this week surrounding Mark Sanchez’s “Jets West” camp, corner back Antonio Cromartie announced that he will be holding his own California camp for Jets’ defensive backs.
“It ain’t Cro West,” Cromartie said Friday. “It’s just the Cro Workout Regiment.”
The idea for a defensive backs workout camp did not actually come from Cromartie. Safety Josh Bush actually approached Cromartie, and urged the Jets pro-bowl corner to take the rest of the defensive backs with him to California. Cromartie, as Bush pointed out, is in the best shape of any Jets defensive back, due to his intense workout regiment.
Jets players that will be joining Cromartie in California for the next six weeks include Bush, Kyle Wilson, Aaron Berry, and even WR Steven Hill. Having Hill along will give the others a chance to hone their techniques. It is still unknown whether rookie first round draft pick Dee Milliner will attend the camp. The players will rent a house where they will live and train together during the six-week vacation between mini camp and training camp.
“We’ll be able to build that relationship with a lot of the guys so our communication will be top-notch,” Bush said. “And we’ll get in the best shape possible.”
The Jets secondary will look too be as prepared as possible in 2013, as they begin their first year in the post-Darrelle Revis era.
