ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Lions RB Jahvid Best (concussions) is likely to open the season on the PUP list. That’d cost him the first 6 games. Detroit would then need to decide whether or not to activate him for the rest of the year. The news isn’t all that surprising considering Best still hasn’t been cleared for contact. At this point, there’s no guarantee that he plays at all this year. His top-20 upside — especially in PPR formats — keeps him on the fantasy radar. But Best is just a late-round flier in fantasy drafts now. Kevin Smith, meanwhile, continues to climb our RB rankings. And Mikel Leshoure could be a factor after he serves his 2-game suspension.
