The NFL owners approved the sale of the Jacksonville Jaguars today in a unanimous vote at their quarterly meeting in Dallas. The NFL finance committee had already approved the deal, so this was the last remaining hurdle to be cleared. The transaction is set to be finalized on January 4, when new owner Shahid Khan will take over the team.
That will be right after the end of the regular season, and the Jaguars are well out of contention for the playoffs. There will be a lot for Khan to do, including hiring a new head coach and getting ready for the NFL Draft, where the Jags will have a top 10, or possibly a top 5 draft pick (depending on the rest of the season, and how the tie breakers lay down).
