The Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2014 schedule is highlighted by a nationally-televised home game on NFL Network against the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, December 18 and a trip to London to play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, November 9. The Jaguars open the season on the road at Philadelphia on Sunday, September 7.
Four of the club’s first six games are on the road including back-to-back road games to open the season for only the second time in franchise history (2000). Three of the first four games are against 2013 playoff teams.
The club’s first two games are on the road against NFC East opponents and three of the club’s last four games are against the AFC South teams. Fifteen of the Jaguars’ 16 season regular season games will be played on Sundays, with 14 scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Eastern kickoffs, one at 4:05 p.m. and one at 8:25 p.m. The 2014 schedule for the Jaguars features four teams that qualified for the 2013 postseason – the Colts twice (Sept. 21, Nov. 23), the Bengals (Nov. 2), the Chargers (Sept. 28) and the Eagles (Sept. 7) – and will meet all four teams in the first nine weeks.
The Jaguars will play on NFL Network for the sixth time in the last seven seasons when they host the Titans. The Jaguars have played in 33 nationally-televised prime time games in their 19 seasons with at least one each season and seven overall on Thursday night. The Jaguars play consecutive home games twice and consecutive road games one time.
The Jaguars open the 2014 season and 20th season in franchise history on the road for the ninth time overall as they visit Philadelphia on Sunday, Sept. 7. It marks only the fourth time in franchise history the club will open the season against an NFC team (1998, 2003, 2012). The Jaguars own a 3-1 mark against the Eagles in the overall series and won their only regular season meeting in Philadelphia in 2006. Following the opener, the Jaguars play a second consecutive road game against an NFC East opponent, facing the Washington Redskins at FedExField on Sunday, Sept. 14.
The Jaguars play their home opener at EverBank Field in week three against division foe Indianapolis on Sunday, Sept. 21. It is the latest the Jaguars have opened the season at home in terms of date in team history.
A trip to San Diego awaits the Jaguars on Sunday, Sept. 28 as they visit the Chargers for a 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, their only west coast trip of the season. The Chargers lead the overall series, 3-2, and the teams will meet for the second consecutive season and the fourth time in the last five seasons.
The Jaguars return home in week five to battle the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Oct. 5. The Jaguars lead the regular season series, 11-10, including a 7-4 mark in Jacksonville. The teams are meeting for the seventh time in the last 10 seasons including a postseason game in 2007. The Jaguars play their first division road game on Sunday, Oct. 12 against the Tennessee Titans.
The Jaguars have a two-game homestand against Cleveland (Oct. 19) and Miami (Oct. 26) in weeks seven and eight. The Jaguars and Browns are meeting for the sixth time in the last seven seasons. The Dolphins are visiting Jacksonville for the second time in the last three seasons.
Following back-to-back home games, the Jaguars won’t return to EverBank Field until the end of November. The Jaguars open up November with a trip to Cincinnati on Sunday, Nov. 2 before traveling to London for a battle with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Nov. 9. It marks the second game of a four-year commitment by the Jaguars to play one regular season game in the United Kingdom, all at Wembley Stadium.
The Jaguars’ open date on Sunday, Nov. 16 is the latest bye week in franchise history. Following the bye week, the Jaguars finish the regular season with three home games and three road games. A second game against the Colts is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 23 at Lucas Oil Stadium followed by back-to-back home games against the New York Giants (Nov. 30) and the Houston Texans (Dec. 7).
The Jaguars play their fourth and final game against an AFC North opponent on Dec. 14 when they visit the Baltimore Ravens. Four days later, the Jaguars welcome the Titans to EverBank Field on Thursday for an 8:25 kickoff on NFL Network. It marks the first time the teams will meet on Thursday night.
The Jaguars close out the 2014 regular season schedule on the road at Houston on Sunday, Dec. 28. It marks the eighth time in the last nine seasons the Jaguars finish on the road, and the 14th time in 20 seasons.
