Richie Incognito will not play other snap this season, but he will be getting paid as if he did. The Dolphins and Incognito agreed Monday on a deal that will keep the Pro Bowl guard suspended until independent investigator Ted Wells his investigation into the allegations that Incognito bullied teammate and fellow offensive lineman Jonathan Martin.
The rules of the collective bargaining agreement stated that Incognitos suspension was scheduled to end following Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Miami with three options: release Incognito, reinstate him, or work out an agreement to pay him and keep him off the field. The Dolphins chose the latter which seemed to be the best move for now.
Incognito is the final year of his contract with the Miami which means he may have played his final game in a Dolphin uniform.
Incognito was suspended back on November third of this year for detrimental conduct. He faces allegations that he threatened and bullied Jonathan Martin as well as used a racial slur towards him. “I’m not a racist,” Incognito said. “And to judge me by that one word is wrong.”
Investigator Ted Wells has met with Incognito once so far during the investigation and planes to interview him again as well as many of his teammates.
