How to Honor God When Using Social Media

It can be hard to honor God in a world where everyone seems against Him. As Christians, it’s our job to ensure we honor God in everything we do, even in social media. Here are a few tips to help you honor God while using social media in your everyday life.

#1. Watch What You Say

It’s hard to simply watch what you say on any social media account but it’s important. Everyone can see what you say thanks to the “stalker bar” located on the side of Facebook. Double think each and every word you plan on saying, it will be worth it in the end.

#2. Share Appropriately

There is a happy medium when sharing on Facebook and Twitter. You really don’t want to overdo it because it can get really old really fast. Remember that Christianity is more about walking the walk and not just talking the talk. If you are going to claim to know Jesus Christ, then make sure it shows in your personal life.

#3. Use Social Media for Good

Social media is a great way to reach out to others for Christ, but it can also be a way for satan to destroy the world. Use social media for good and not for evil. Don’t use it to backlash, slander, or to put someone else down. It’s always easier to say something via Facebook than face to face.

There are a lot of ways we can honor God when using social media. If you do not think you can handle the responsibility of social media, then perhaps it would be okay to not have an account. Have an accountability partner if you do not think you can hold yourself accountable. Always watch what you say, share appropriately, and try to always use social media for good.
