INDIANAPOLIS—The second annual NFLPA Legends Brunch, a unique event featuring some of the greatest players to play the game and active players, took place Sunday morning.
An intimate setting featuring legends in an interactive roundtable followed by audience questions and answers and a buffet-style brunch, the affair gave VIPs the ultimate “breakfast of champions” on Super Bowl morning. A star-studded panel of legends shared their unique perspectives on football’s biggest day.
Football enthusiasts and fans in the Indianapolis area joined partners and licensees and host Pam Oliver at the occasion unlike any other all week long. Five panelists (Cornelius Bennett, Fred Biletnikoff, Floyd Little, Warren Moon and Rod Woodson) headlined the Legends Brunch, and two active players (Chicago kicker Robbie Gould and Cleveland tight end Benjamin Watson) roved the room as field reporters. Indiana University alumnus George Taliaferro and NFLPA Executive Committee member Tony Richardson acted as table hosts.
“I’m thrilled and proud to be here this morning at this celebration of pro football and most especially, the men who play it,” Oliver told the crowd.
The superstar panelists discussed topics like their NFL career memories that stick out, the teams and players that they looked forward to playing, differences in the game when they played compared to now and life lessons that football taught them.
Giving 250 to 300 guests rare access to Hall of Famers, the event was an engaging, intimate and interactive setting that provided an insider’s view to the game they love. Oliver’s opening remarks preceded a video reel featuring career highlights of the five panelists. After the video, Oliver briefly interviewed NFL Players Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith before the program shifted to 30 minutes of panel discussion and 45 minutes of Q&As from the audience with active NFL players as field reporters.
Last year’s panelists were Eddie George, Joe Greene, Ronnie Lott, Little and John Lynch. This year’s group provided no shortage of fascinating insight for the lucky fans in attendance. Woodson, a Purdue University alumnus, was particularly intriguing for fans given his local connection to the Super Bowl host city area.
“I’m happy to be here once again with our most valued friends and colleagues, and with the list of athletes joining us this morning, we are literally in the presence of greatness,” Smith said.
