We watched the Colts-Packers game tonight hoping to get a better idea of how Green Bay’s RB battle was shaking out. Unfortunately, it’s still a quagmire.
RBs Ryan Grant and James Starks saw virtually the same number of snaps with the 1st-team offense. But Grant rushed 6 times for 16 yards, while Starks took his only carry for 2 yards.
Starks was impressive in the passing game, though, hauling in 5 balls – including an impressive one-hander – for 38 yards. Grant caught 1 pass for 6 yards.
Based on those numbers, you’d think Grant was the early-down runner and Starks the 3rd-down back. We’re not so sure that’ll be the case though. Simply put, Starks looked like the more powerful and dangerous RB. Unless Grant picks it up, we’re thinking that Starks finishes the season with more touches.
