Giants Scott Leads Giants over Patriots

The New York Giants came back to beat the New England Patriots 18-17 by scoring 15 fourth quarter points.  The Giants were led by a power running attach, including rookie Da’Rel Scott’s 12 carries for 114 yards, including a 65 yard touchdown run on a fake punt.

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New York Jets 24 –14, on the strength of Vince Young’s arm.  In a night when both Mark Sanchez and Michael Vick were rested for the preseason, Young went 15 of 23 for 193 yards and 1 TD, but left the game with an injured right hamstring.  Eagles coach Andy Reid said, “I think he’s going to be ok.  We’ll MRI him just to make sure.”

The Detroit Lions beat the Buffalo Bills 16-6 in a game that featured very limited play from the starters, as Matt Stafford made only 2 pass attempts, and Ryan Fitzpatrick made 5.  Bills linebacker Shawne Merriman, who has been fighting injuries all through last year finally made it on the field for some real time game action.  Asked if he had gotten his speed back, Merriman said, “Yeah that is god-given ability. Not playing for so long I sometimes forget that is still there but you don’t have those opportunities to go out and do that. It was good.”
