Fantasy Football: NFL Week 4 Pickups

After another week of injuries, some of them more serious than others, the pool for pickups this week is extremely weak. There are players that other sites will recommend that either are likely gone or were 1 week pickups that are being mentioned to fill space. I won’t waste your time with recommending them, but I will quickly mention them. Since there aren’t too many players to go over this week, let’s get right into the NFL Week 4 Pickups.

QBs

Most places will mention Kirk Cousins, Blake Bortles, and Teddy Bridgewater, but if you read my article from last week, you would already have them on your roster instead of hoping you have a high enough waiver to get them now. However, there is one QB that I will specifically mention:

Mike Glennon – Last year Glennon actually had a pretty good year for a rookie, so it was surprising they went out and signed a 34 year old journeyman in Josh McCown. Now with McCown out for a few weeks, Glennon gets his chance again, and this time with a better offense than last year. He could easily end up keeping the job.

NFL: Houston Texans at New York Giants

RBs

Lorenzo Taliaferro – This is more of a risk pickup than a definite. Bernard Pierce should be back next week and Justin Forsett is still there, but Taliaferro could be the future. He is a better fit for a keeper or dynasty league.

Alfred Blue – Arian Foster is the ultimate #1 RB and will not share too many carries when healthy. The issue is he never seems to be healthy. Alfred Blue is a talented rookie that could be big for the weeks that Foster will undoubtedly miss.

WRs

Allen Robinson – I do not think Robinson will have an immediate impact this week, however, he will have one soon. Bortles is a big strong-armed QB that doesn’t mind being aggressive and Robinson is the burner that is more talented than Hurns.

Marvin Jones – After missing the 1st 3 weeks of the season, most people have probably forgotten about Marvin Jones. With the Bengals on a bye, this is the ideal time to pick him up. Don’t forget that he had over 700 yards and 10 TDs last year.

TEs

In the last couple weeks, I have already recommended picking up Travis Kelce, Larry Donnell, Niles Paul, and Owen Daniels, so if you didn’t listen to me, pick them up now, if they are all gone, there is likely no one out there for you to pickup.

DEFs

Miami Dolphins Defense – If you don’t have a top 5 defense, you’re probably streaming every week. The key to that is looking for a team to pick on. The three teams that will be most picked on this year are the Jets, Raiders, and Jaguars, hence this week I suggest the Dolphins defense vs. the Raiders.

Detroit Lions Defense – The Lions defense is better than they have played so far and now they get to prove it against the Jets. Can the Jets move the ball? Yes. Can they give you a couple sacks and turnovers? Also, yes.

Those are your NFL week 4 pickups. Enjoy the games.
