Last week we witnessed history as Ben Roethlisberger decided that it wasn’t enough to throw 6 TDs the week I told people to bench him, 2 weeks ago, he came back and threw for 6 TDs again just to rub it in my face. Luckily, I was pretty good on some other recommendations like benching Philip Rivers and starting Larry Donnell. As I say every week, if you have to make a decision regarding a player that isn’t below, you can just tweet me @pacman453323. So without further ado, let’s get into the Week 10 Starts and Sits.
Starts: (outside of top 10 players of that position):
QBs
Cam Newton – It’s really a shame that I have to mention Cam Newton in this article, but he has been so bad in some games that people have asked me on if to bench him. So against the Eagles, this may be his last chance to become the Cam Newton we all know and love, the one that should be a top 5 fantasy QB.
Carson Palmer – You can’t get too much more consistent that Palmer has been this year. He has at least 249 yards and 2 TDs in every game. Last week he continued that tear by going off on the Dallas Cowboys for 249 and 3. Continue to start him with confidence as even though the Rams bothered Kaepernick, this is an entirely difference offense.
RBs
Terrance West – There is not a RB in the league that has an easier run defense schedule than Terrence West. The Browns will be facing their 4th straight game against 1 of the worst 10 rush defenses in the league. He still has a couple more “plus” matchups after this.
Bobby Rainey – While I am very high on Charles Sims, Rainey is currently the guy for the Bucs right now. Doug Martin looks to be done, even if he’s healthy, and Sims may be worked into the offense slowly. Rainey’s biggest problem is ball security, but if he can hold onto the ball, he can put up good numbers.
WRs
Roddy White – It’s been a while since I’ve recommended people to start Roddy White. They are facing a TB defense that gives up the most fantasy points in the league to WRs. Julio Jones should go off, but he will also have the most attention, leaving some open holes for White and Harry Douglas.
Justin Hunter – Even though the Baltimore Ravens have seem to play pretty good defense this year at times, they are still giving up the 2nd most fantasy points to WRs in the league. Yes, Mettenberger is the starter, but he has a big arm and Hunter is athletic enough to get behind the defense at least once.
TEs
Heath Miller – I have been pretty good at predicting Miller’s good and bad games. He’s simply good against bad teams and really bad against good teams. That trend continued last week against a Raven’s defense that is good against TEs and it should continue this week against a Jets defense that is bad against TEs and gave up 2 TDs to TEs last week, including 1 to Anthony Fasano while he was flat on his back.
Sits:
QBs
Matt Stafford – I warned people about Philip Rivers last week and I’m doing the same with Matt Stafford. The Miami Dolphins are very good against the pass and they are a hot team right now. Stafford gets Megatron back in the fold, but is that enough?
Alex Smith – If you want a steady QB that may not have a high ceiling, but they have a high floor, Smith is your guy. Even though I think he will be a good game manager and help KC win a game in Buffalo, I think most of the Chief’s damage will be done on the ground by Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis.
RBs
Mark Ingram – Last week Ingram got a lot of praise for his game, but to me, it wasn’t that great. Yes, he has 100 yards and a TD, but he got 30 carries and the Saints were without Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson. Add that to the fact that Carolina has been bad against RBs and his performance was very unimpressive to me. This week, the Niners will shut him down in my opinion.
Anthony Dixon – I have never been high on Dixon. He is a bulldozer type of a back in the mode of an older Jerome Bettis. He can move the pile, which may get you a TD, but he’s just holding the Bills RB spot warm until Fred Jackson returns in mid to late November.
WRs
Rueben Randle – I recommended people to bench Randle last week because I knew he’d see a lot of Vontae Davis, who’s a very good 1 on 1 cover corner. This week will be very similar as he faces Richard Sherman and the “Legion of Boom” in Seattle. It just keeps getting worse and worse for the NY Giants.
Allen Robinson – It’s kind of ironic that I have the same 2 WRs in my “sits” that I did last week, but they both are just in tough scheduling situations right now. Last week, Robinson had to deal with the “Legion of Boom” and now he has to travel overseas to play a tough Dallas defense.
TEs
Delanie Walker – After a very hot start to the season, Walker has slowed tremendously. Part of it is injuries, part of it is the carousel QB in Tennessee, and some of it is just game plan. Walker didn’t forget how to play, but the Titans want to take advantage of Mettenberger’s big arm and go down the field to Hunter and Kendall Wright more.
Those are your Week 10 Starts and Sits in the NFL. Enjoy the games.
