The theme of the pickups this week is “Thinking Long Term”. Most of the players I will be bringing up will be players that should help you with your playoff run or while you are in the playoffs. They are players that you have to pick up now because they will be heavy waiver guys in a week or 2. You need luck and good planning to contend for a fantasy championship, that planning must start now. With that being said, let’s get right to the NFL Week 10 Pickups.
QBs
Mark Sanchez – Nick Foles is out 6-8 weeks, so that means he’s likely done for your fantasy season. Sanchez won’t put up Aaron Rodgers numbers, but he showed last week that he can be a middle of the group QB that on some weeks will make for a good starter.
Michael Vick – Last week was a better showing from Vick than I expected. Despite his 1st start, he put up solid numbers and while he stays healthy, he should be able to be a borderline, bottom of the end, QB 1 starter. He legs are a huge bonus in standard scoring.
RBs
Adrian Peterson – It appears that Peterson will see the field in a couple weeks. The Vikings previously looked to be distancing themselves from AP, but now seem to be softening their stance on that. As good as Jerick McKinnon has done, Peterson is their franchise and he’ll be the starter when he returns.
Terrence West – The man that I personally touting up highly before the NFL draft, looks to be finally getting his feet settled. Ben Tate has not shown any explosiveness against good matchups and the Browns don’t trust Crowell because of ball security. West has a great schedule ahead of him.
Ryan Mathews – Here is another talented, oft-injured, RB that could put up some big games for your fantasy team before the year ends. Mathews is finally practicing and appears to be ready to comeback either this week or next week. When healthy, he has the ability of a top 10 RB.
WRs
Kenny Britt – During the Rams 1st game without Brian Quick, Britt was force fed the ball. It resulted in a TD, but the biggest indicator that he will be a huge part of the offense is his usage. He played 64.7% of the plays before last week, but he played 92.9% last week.
Martavis Bryant – Wow is all I can say when speaking about Bryant. Before the NFL draft, someone told me that a few people though Bryant may be more talented than his fellow Clemson WR Sammy Watkins. In his 1st three games of the year, 5 TDs, may be just telling people they knew what they were talking about.
Davante Adams – He has already completely taken over the #3 job for the Packers, which is worth the pickup alone. The rookie is getting better every week and in his high-powered offense, he will get his opportunities. He will always have the best matchup on the field with Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson taking away the defensive attention.
TEs
Kyle Rudolph – If you are looking for a TE because of injuries or bye week problems, Rudolph appears to be setting his return for week 11. The TE is a rookie QBs best friend and he has the athletic ability to be a game-changing player. The Notre Dame TE, like my next pickup, needs to be watched closely.
Tyler Eifert – Just like Rudolph, Eifert is another player that plans to comeback in week 11. Jermaine Gresham has done what everyone expected, which was underwhelm. Eifert is also from Notre Dame, like Rudolph, and both are very similar in their athletic ability and their potential impact.
DEFs
Dallas Cowboys Defense – It’s that time of the week again, the time when I just pick whoever is playing the Jaguars and pick them as my defense. This time, it’s the Dallas Cowboys, in London. Jacksonville gives you at least 2 turnovers a game and doesn’t score that much to counter off what they give you.
Arizona Cardinals Defense – Even though the Rams upset the 49ers last week, they 49ers defense still was put up solid numbers. The Cardinals defense is solid and the Rams offense isn’t clicking right now. They should be able to shut down Ram’s run game and force Austin Davis into some tough throws.
Baltimore Ravens Defense – The Tennessee Titans will be starting a rookie QB, a rookie RB, and a rookie LT. That’s usually not the best for offensive success. I don’t doubt that they will have some good plays, but overall, the Ravens should hold the Titans under 20 points and get 2 turnovers with 3-4 sacks.
Those are your NFL week 10 pickups. Enjoy the games.
