Former 49ers wide receiver Braylon Edwards cleared waivers today, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Edwards was signed by the 49ers in the offseason and waived on Wednesday.
Edwards hasn’t been completely healthy this year, suffering a knee injury in Week 2 and a shoulder injury in Week 9, and has had a disappointing 181 receiving yards all year.
The 49ers are already thin at wide receiver, having lost Josh Morgan for the season earlier this year with a broken leg, but apparently have decided they can better use that roster spot elsewhere.
