Donald Driver Announces his Retirement after 14 years in the NFL

Donald Driver, the all-time leading receiver in receptions and yards in Green Bay Packer history, has announced he will retire after 14 years in the National Football League. Driver will make it official on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at a public event in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

“I played my entire career in Green Bay and have always enjoyed a special bond with the fans,” said Driver. “I can think of no better way to retire than to celebrate with them and the Packers organization.”

Driver not only holds the record for most receiving yards and receptions, he also has the most 50-catch seasons by any Packer and the most 1,000 yard seasons in Green Bay history with seven. He was also integral part in 2010 when Green Bay won Super Bowl XLV.

Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy, General Manager Ted Thompson and Head Coach Mike McCarthy will speak about Driver’s career and legacy during the event being held on Feb. 6.

Hall of Fame quarterback and Packer legend Bart Starr, who will not be in attendance for the event, had this to say about Driver: “It’s been a great pleasure getting to know Donald over these years. His contribution to the history of the Green Bay Packers has been extraordinary. I am honored to congratulate him on all of his achievements on and off the field.”

Fans are invited to the announcement. A limited number of tickets, free of charge, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the Packers’ ticket office, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1. Distribution will be limited to four tickets per person.
