“The one thing I know is you win with good people.” This quotation is reminiscent of the legendary Don Shula.
Shula simply known as one of the NFL coaching greats, therefore to continue on his legacy he decided to honor a high school coach that exceeded the expectations of an average coach. This year Wisconsin’s own Somerset High School Head Football Coach Bruce Larson took home the trophy.
Coach Larson was awarded by Matt Birk, the NFL Director of Football Development.Together with Coach Shula, Birk presented the award to Larson at the press conference. This award was created in 2010 to honor exemplary football coaches at the high school level that display the integrity, achievement, and leadership demonstrated by Shula, the winningest coach in NFL history, Don Shula.
Larson will receive $25,000, $15,000 of which will go to his high school’s football program from the NFL Foundation and attend the Super Bowl.
