The New England Patriots stunned fans last season when they let the New York Giants snatch the Super Bowl title away from them. The spread last season was one of the tightest in years, but the Pats were still favored to win by 2.5 points and had a shot to win the game right down to the final seconds.
So what happened? Was Tom Brady to blame for his last second pass attempt to the injured Rob Gronkowski, which was intercepted? Did Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker step up as much as they should have? Or is the defense responsible for not coming up with a key stop on the Giants last drive to preserve the Patriots lead?
The Patriots have added some key weapons in this offseason, including adding wide receiver Brandon Lloyd to give Brady yet another target, and drafting heavily on the defensive side of the ball to help shore up the defense. Will all those new pieces come together this season to give them a shot at Super Bowl redemption? The Pats have looked very sharp at this season’s training camp, as you can see in the video below.
Pats fans are hoping that Bill Belichick can make all the pieces come together and that the Patriots can finish all the way this season. They kick off their season Sunday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. against the Tennessee Titans.
