Eagles DeSean Jackson was late to a meeting yesterday and was told he would not be in uniform for today’s game against the Arizona Cardinals at Lincoln Financial Field according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News citing a source close to the situation.
Several years ago, running back Correll Buckhalter did the same thing and received the same punishment. However, Jackson’s situation with the Eagles is a bit different.
Jackson, is in his second season of dissatisfaction over risking injury while underpaid, playing as he unsuccessfully seeks a new contract from the team. Last year, Eagles president Joe Banner said the expiring CBA was preventing a deal getting done. This year with a new CBA in place a deal between Jackson and the team remains elusive.
PFT is reporting that Jackson missed the meeting because his alarm clock didn’t go off. Maybe with a new contract Jackson would get a new alarm clock too.
WR Jason Avant will move into the starting lineup .
