Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader receives football from Buffalo Bills Boyfriend

This past Sunday, Kelsi Reich was one of the most surprised people when Buffalo Bills receiver David Nelson handed her a football after scoring a touchdown. Ironically, she was rooting against him while wearing a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader uniform.

However it was very appropriate; She is Nelson’s girlfriend.

Nelson caught a 3-yard touchdown pass Sunday, then ran all the way to the other end of the field just to hand the ball to Reich.

“It was a special moment to share with her,” Nelson said after the Bills’ 44-7 loss. “I didn’t want it to be awkward. She knew it was coming, I don’t think she knew what was coming”.

Nelson is dating Kelsi Reich, who is in her fourth season as a Cowboys cheerleader.

As TV cameras captured the moment, Nelson ran in a touchdown pass from Bills Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, turned left and headed toward Reich who was at the far end of the field. It was then, when he made a handoff that left some fans swooning and clapping.

But Nelson told NFL.com he had more planned. And not being one to “kiss and tell”, he’s keeping it to himself for now.

“If it would have been a better situation, I would have done a little more,” Nelson said. “Being down 14, I’m not going to go to celebrate too much.”

Nelson and Reich have been dating for four years. Given their unique occupations, they don’t get to see each other at games. So Sunday’s game was extra special.

Nelson said his display of affection was all a part of his plan.

“I just wanted to give her the ball, give her a hug and let her know I was thinking about her,” Nelson told NFL.com “It’s very rare to make it in the NFL, it’s very rare to be a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader and it’s even more rare for both of us two people to be on the field at the same time.”

Reich’s reaction was priceless to watch. She appeared to be terrified, shocked and extremely happy all at once. Blushing as Nelson ran away, she posed for photos with the ball. He also stated he wanted to leave it simply at that. No kissing, no over the top display. Just simple and sweet, to show he was thinking about her.

“It was tough for her to balance the excitement of the moment, but also try to keep her composure so she wouldn’t get in trouble,” Nelson told NFL.com. “But she definitely let me know how excited she was after the game and she’s still excited to this day.”

However, Nelson has acquired more admirers than scoffers. And there is no question that Reich is still aglow in shock. She posted on her Twitter: “What a special day today was! I feel so blessed & so proud of @DavidNelson86 ! Thanks for my game ball, I wont let go of it :) happiest girl!”

Nelson is from Wichita Falls, Texas, and he said there were about 120 tickets purchased for his and Reich’s family and friends at Sunday’s game.
