It wasn’t easy, but a win is a win. The Dallas Cowboys overcame an early 13-0 deficit and defeated a tough Cleveland Browns team 23-20 in overtime. Tony Romo and Dez Bryant connected 12 times for 145 yards and a touchdown to lead the Cowboys from behind and help them reach .500 for the first time since week 7.
Despite being sacked a career high 7 times, Romo completed 35 of his 50 pass attempts for 313 yards and a touchdown. Romo’s fourth quarter comeback was the 16th of his career.
After the game, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett told reporters he was pleased with Romo’s poise. Garrett told reporters:
“Tony did a really good job of playing with poise…When you play quarterback and you have a lot of negative plays … it’s easy to kind of get out of yourself and do some things you shouldn’t be doing.”
On the receiving end of 12 of Romo’s completions was Dez Bryant. The third year wide receiver out of Oklahoma State showed the league why the Cowboys should believe in him. He dominated the Browns secondary all game long and caught 12 of the 15 passes thrown his way, accounting for almost half of the Cowboys passing yardage.
On Thursday, the Cowboys will host the Redskins on Thanksgiving. It is unsure if they will be without left tackle Tyron Smith who suffered a high ankle sprain early in Sunday’s game. Either way, a win Thursday would bring the Cowboys within a half game of the first place Giants.
