The Minnesota Vikings now have a threat receiver that could be a top playmaker in 2014. Vikings’ wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson has worked his way up with predominantly having the threat to be a Hall of Famer receiver by the end of his career. Last season Patterson shocked a lot of opponents with his complete dynamics of the game; Patterson has a burst of speed that is unbelievable, he could go down the field vertical, can take hits, and just has ways to create big time plays for his team. As just a rookie Patterson had 9 touchdowns.
When breaking down his 9 touchdowns Patterson scored in every aspect of his game. He had 4 touchdown receptions, 3 rushing, and had 2 kickoff returns. In a recent interview with NFL Media’s Akbar Gbajabia, Patterson had this to say about the upcoming season, “I’m going to be a top-five playmaker,” Patterson said. “I’m a playmaker and I like to make plays. Like I tell them get the ball in my hands. I feel like I’m special with it and big plays will come with putting your trust in my hands”
“You have to have that mindset,” Patterson said. “Like my coach always tells me, they want Rottweilers and pit bulls, they don’t want no Chihuahua, they want dogs”
It seems like Patterson has the right mindset under the circumstances with his team undergoing a rebuilding stage in their organization. The Vikings new head coach is Norv Turner and you will probably see more plays for Patterson going deep down the field. He averaged around 10.4 yards a catch last season and Coach Turner will see if they can put Patterson in different spots on the field. He knows Patterson is the type of receiver that the team rallies around and would love to get him touches early in the game.
Despite the quarterback issues with the Vikings they are headed in a great direction with the leadership and skill level that Patterson has brought to the table.
