Chris Johnson’s Next Chapter

Chris Johnson, who was the Tennessee Titan’s running back for six years was released recently. The organization had released this statement Friday; “As an organization, we want to thank Chris for his contributions to the Titans,” general manager Ruston Webster said in a release. “Chris produced many memorable moments, broke franchise records and was durable over his six-year career with our team.”We have had an open dialogue with Chris’ agent, Joel Segal, over the last few weeks, and we appreciate the patience and professionalism they have shown throughout this process.”We made an effort to trade Chris but were unable to do so. Here is Johnson’s statement after he had found out he was being released; “I’d like to thank all of my teammates, the fans, the staff and the coaches who have supported me throughout my journey with the Titans. I have grown so much as an individual and as teammate over the past few years, and I am excited about the opportunity to bring my experience and talents to a new organization. I’m looking forward to the next chapter and can’t wait to contribute to my new team.”

Johnson had mentioned that he will make a decision in which team that he will sign to before the end of the week.

Johnson had conversed with the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, and Buffalo Bills; as of right now the Jets have the front runner of getting Johnson. In Johnson’s career he had over 7,000 yards and 50 touchdowns. He was one of the few and rare players to rush for 2,000 yards in a season.

Johnson is coming off his worst careers as a running back; he had 3.9 yards a carry and his longest run was for only 30 yards. Whatever team that he chooses, he will have to prove that he still in fact has that dynamic ability to break defenders down with his speed, vision down the field, and his patience that opponents fear when they play him.
