Despite the ongoing lockout, Bengals RB Cedric Benson claims that he’s in tip-top shape. “I’m beyond football shape,” Benson said. “I’m in 16 regular-game, 4 postseason-game kind of shape. I’m ready to roll…with this extended lockout, you’ve had all this extra time to work out. I haven’t trained like this since I don’t know when.” Benson will be a free-agent when a new CBA is reached, but it’s widely-believed that he’ll re-sign with the Bengals. And new OC Jay Gruden plans to run him into the ground. “If our strength is running the football, then we have to find a way to get the best possible scenarios to get Cedric as many touches as possible without killing him,” Gruden said. Benson has averaged a whopping 21.4 carries per game over the past 2 seasons.
