The Dolphins fell to 0-6, after leading by 15 points with under 3 minutes to go, and at least one Dolphin isn’t mincing words about the losing streak. After the game, RB Reggie Bush stated, “We were up 15 points with what, five minutes left to go? And we couldn’t win it? It’s disgusting.”
“Right now, this team stinks.”
Bush went on to say the team didn’t put the effort in. “We just didn’t fight towards the end. We didn’t have enough effort for 60 minutes. We had five minutes to win the game and we couldn’t.”
While the “Tebow Believers” will the credit the Bronco QB’s will-to-win, the Dolphins made key mistakes to hand the game over. After the Broncos cut the lead to 15-7, the Dolphins failed to recover the onside kick, giving the Broncos a shot at the tying touchdown. And after Tebow’s second TD pass, they failed to prevent the QB sneak on the 2-point conversion to send the game to overtime. And then there was the fumble in OT to set up the Broncos winning field goal. That’s quite a series of errors in a few minutes of football, regardless of Tebow’s heroics.
When Bush was asked if the team felt like they had to rally around their coach to protect his job, Bush was equally blunt on that topic. “We’re all grown men. We don’t have time for the pity card for anybody, for one person on this team. We’re all in this together…coaches, players, trainers, staff members, everybody.”
“If anybody is feeling sorry for somebody else then you’re in the wrong place.”
Bush wasn’t the only Dolphins sounding out, although he was the most vocal. Brandon Marshall added, “Obviously there’s a huge problem.”
“We have a lot of talent in this room and we just can’t put it together on Sundays.”
